As with any professional trade, the common saying is that a worker is only as good as his or her tools. The proper tools are an absolute must to have in order to be a professional bartender. There are the tools that a bartender must keep on their person at all times and then there are the tools that will be kept at the bartender’s workstation to be available to during a work shift that may be shared with other bartenders depending upon how busy the bar may be during that said shift. The following tools are what I call “PERSONAL BAR TOOLS” These are items that a professional bartender must always have on them for every shift they work.

In addition to the Personal Bar Tools that a bartender must have, there are specified tools that will be kept at every bar well workstation. These are the following tools you should make sure are kept at the workstation in an orderly manner.

Main Features

  • Learn the essential tools you will carry every day
  • Discover the workstation tools that you’ll be using every day

Who is the target audience?

New bartenders who want to understand the fundamentals of the mixing methods. Customers who have been ordering certain drinks can easily taste and feel when the drink is made differently – that’s why it’s important to ask the customer first for example if they prefer the drink shaken or stirred.  Later when you get to drinks, you will see the most common way certain drinks are made and typically ordered (but we highly suggest you ask the customer)

Yes, we have some great sponsors that have great products and we have additional products for purchase should you want to take your bartending to a professional level.
NO! Companies that say this are being dishonest. Handing a certificate to a manager of a bar or nightclub is one of the last things you want to do. Anyone can print out a certificate, it means nothing and shows the owners or managers hiring nothing.
They are not hard, but they are thorough – meaning there are courses, and each course has approx 10 lessons, sometimes less, sometimes more. There is a combination of text, images, and video for each lesson. After you’ve gone thru the lesson material, there is a lesson quiz, you need to pass all lesson quizzes with an 80% or better in order for us to place you as an intern. This suggests to the potential employer that you know what to do and when.
It depends on your state, check this page to see a list of states and ages. Your States Legal Bartending Age
They are broken into related lessons, with over 200 videos, text, images, & examples showing you everything you need to know about bartending. Complete the online course at your own pace. After you finish the online part, there is a resume builder, add some info to your resume that highlights your recent accomplishment and a little info about yourself. Then head over to the internship map link to find a learn bartending location near you. Submit your resume to their internship job posting and get ready to intern. The bar will contact you to schedule a time to come in and do a mock interview, if they have availability they will schedule your days, if they are full you can apply to another bar.  It is recommended that you do 6 days of internship, 3 opening days and 3 closing days to get exposure to both shifts.
